All about birds (nests, eggs, chicks)

This week we were very busy learning about where the birds live, how they lay their eggs, and teach their chicks to flap their wings, ready to fly!

We enjoyed making paper owls using our handprints, we made bird feeders using cheerios, and we celebrated Myra’s birthday!

This week we have been learning more about the vehicles, and especially aeroplanes, helicopters and hot air ball balloons! We were planning to make our own handmade hot air balloons but the snow days postponed our plans for next week.The children enjoyed the snow anyway!

The wheels on the bus go round and round!

This week we started our transportation topic, learning all about vehicles. We got to learn the names of different vehicles, play matching games and explore how to make tracks with paint. Our song of the week was the wheels on the bus, as all of the children are familiar with buses, and we love that song!

Christmas time!

To celebrate Christmas this year, we have been baking, making our own Christmas decorations, and of course decorating our tree!The children had fun working as a team, to make our classroom look beautiful and to make this Christmas be unforgettable!

We went for a safari this week, learning all about wild animals! We have been counting up to five and practicing our maths through different activities! Really enjoyed our paper-made snakes…ssssssss!

Dinosaurs, dinosaurs! An all time favorite topic for this week, as we start to learn about the animals. We talked about dinosaurs, we made fossils using play dough and then we baked it and we made some dinosaur hats out of paper. Using cereal boxes, we made some dinosaur feet and enjoyed using them for dinosaurs’ feet prints. The most excited days of the week were when we had iced dinosaur eggs and we tried to melt the ice by spraying warm water and using spoons to crack the eggs. On Friday, we explored how soda and vinegar can create a “volcano” and we spent the day on role play with our little dinosaurs and the volcano.

People who help us-Police: This week we have been learning all about police and police-officers. We made our own finger and hand-prints, we painted our own stop signs and we learned how to use them in order to be safe when we cross the street but the most excited day of the week was when we had some policemen visiting! The children got a chance to go in the police car and they really enjoyed it!

The last days we have been learning all about the community around us and the people who help us. We talked about firefighters and how they help us put out fires. We made our own paper-flames, painted fires and pretended to be firefighters. Moreover, we learned about the objects we have at home and they are hot and not safe to touch like the oven and the pan. Leah and JJ celebrated their 3rd birthday with their friends, happy birthday to you!

Gruffalo and the autumn

Very busy this week as Mr.Gruffalo visited the classroom!The children were more than excited to have a story reading under a tree in the playground and then help the Gruffalo to find some nice autumn leaves! We then talked about all the different shapes and colors of the leaves and used them for our crafts! On Friday ,our team spirit was on fire and we made a big group collage, taking turns and sharing with each other! Well done!
