A special visitor from the living streets project

This week in Nursery, we were excited to welcome a visitor from the Living Streets project. Their mission is to help create safer, healthier and more enjoyable walking environments, while encouraging everyone—especially children—to walk more in their daily lives.

Our visitor shared Elmer’s Journey with us. The children listened beautifully as she told the story, and they loved joining in with all the actions. It was a fun, active and engaging way to learn about the importance of walking and keeping our bodies moving.

The session was enjoyed by all, and it helped us think about the different ways we can travel actively and safely in our community.

The children took part in a creative activity and made their very own Elmer collage using small pieces of colourful paper. They carefully selected different colours, glued them onto their elephant outline, and were so proud of their finished artwork. It was lots of fun and a lovely way to link art with our learning about movement and the world around us.

The week was enjoyed by all, and it helped us think about the different ways we can travel actively and safely in our community.
